Up to 80 million lbs of used carpet and underlay are sent to Metro Vancouver’s landfills each year. That's 10 times the amount of plastic bags that we usually landfill.

Carpet and underlay are petroleum-based products. They can be recycled, reducing the need for oil to produce new carpet and underlay.

RECYCLING 1000 SQ FT OF CARPET:

Keeps 500 lbs (225kg) of carpet and underlay out of our landfills. Carpet takes over 50 years to degrade.

Saves 200 litres of oil. Used carpet and underlay can be recycled into new carpet, underlay or a wide variety of other plastic products.

Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 460 kg of CO2.
